One of the major problems
for us with dieting is hunger. So, what do we do when we want to
diet for weight loss? Do we consume loads of celery sticks in the
hope of staving of the hunger pangs?
Don’t get me wrong, celery
can be an important addition to your diet. It is high in fibre and
contains many vitamins including A, B1, B2, C, E and K. Celery also
contains essential fatty acids and minerals and has many
other good qualities. However, for me personally, taste isn’t one of
them.
Unfortunately, what we eat and what we believe
to be healthy is often driven by the food manufacturers of today.
What we consider being healthy diet foods can often be the complete
opposite and possibly contain more salt and sugar than we would
expect. In some cases, these so called diet foods can break down
into sugary solutions that can flow into your fat cells.
Men and women are omnivores. There may be
nothing wrong with vegetarian or vegan ideals but this is fact. We
are simply not designed to eat vegetables only. And this is part of
where the problem lies. All too often people give up meat and dairy
products in the vain hope that eating only fruit and vegetables will cause
the pounds to drop off. Well, there’s a fat chance of that
happening.
Excuse the idiom here but it may be easier for
those who have made a conscious decision to become a vegan. However,
for most of us, it can be very difficult to fend off the cravings
that occur when that tasty chop has been replaced with a carrot or
cucumber.
When dieting for weight loss, we must consider
our own metabolism and what we eat at present. Any course or plan
that we follow should take account of this. Moderation is often the
key and there are many foods that you can eat that can help you diet
for weight loss. Some of these may surprise you. They include eggs,
butter, sweet potatoes, pork chops, fruit, nuts and olive oil.
Surprised?
Well, you can check that it is true and that
these particular foods help to boost your metabolism and burn fat
faster. So there’s no need to go on crazy crash diets or eat what
you don’t particularly enjoy.
